New DCMS gambling boss commits to “getting the balance right”

The UK’s Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) has appointed Emma Floyd as its new Director of Sport and Gambling, succeeding Ben Dean who moved to a Cabinet role in early 2026. Floyd announced her selection on LinkedIn on 8 June, committing to “getting the balance right” in her new position. The DCMS oversees gambling policy in the UK, working alongside the UK Gambling Commission. The appointment comes amid ongoing regulatory developments in the British gambling market.
