US Reps. Moore and Goldman Sponsor Bipartisan Push to Fund Federal Sports Betting Study

US Representatives Moore and Goldman have introduced a bipartisan bill that would use excise tax revenue from sports betting to fund a national study on the harms and public policy implications of sports betting. The bill comes eight years after the US Supreme Court overturned the federal ban on sports betting, which has led to a significant increase in legal gambling participation. Currently, no federal agency is tasked with overseeing or studying the impacts of sports betting, leaving a gap in understanding its societal effects. The proposed study aims to address this by providing data-driven insights to inform future policy decisions.
