The UK Gambling Commission has appointed Sue Young as its new Executive Director of Operations, effective 16 March 2026. Young joins from HM Revenue & Customs, where she served as Director of Debt Management, and brings public sector leadership experience from senior roles at the Home Office, Border Force, HM Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire Rescue Services, and the Department of Health and Social Care.
In her new role, Young will oversee several of the Commission’s operational functions, including efforts to tackle the illegal market and deliver regulatory outcomes. Acting Chief Executive Sarah Gardner welcomed Young, citing her operational leadership experience. Young expressed enthusiasm for joining the regulator and contributing to consumer protection and fair gambling practices.
