Betting Authorisation Status in Brazil

Medida Provisória nº 1.394/2026 extinguishes the regime that used to authorise fixed-odds betting operators in Brazil. This page summarises what the MP states about advertising, site blocking and where to check a company’s official status.

Authorisations extinguished, none new (Arts. 4 and 6)

Authorisations granted under Law 14.790/2023 are extinguished at the end of a thirty-day period counted from the MP’s publication, and no new concession, permit or authorisation to operate fixed-odds betting can be issued from that date.

Advertising prohibited (Art. 16)

Communication, advertising, promotion, marketing and sponsorship actions relating to fixed-odds betting lotteries, in any physical or digital medium, are prohibited across the whole national territory.

Site blocking and app-store removal (Arts. 21 and 23)

The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Justice and Public Security may request the blocking or redirection of sites that offer fixed-odds betting, and app-store and operating-system providers must prevent the availability of products or services prohibited by the MP.
