Online Casinos in Ontario: The Regulated iGaming Market Explained
Last updated July 2026 · Casino Capybara editorial team
Last verified: July 22, 2026 by Daniel at Casino Capybara. We checked Ontario’s operator directory, the current roles of AGCO and iGaming Ontario, Alberta’s newly expanded market and the operator routes referenced below.
Ontario online casinos operate in a province-specific regulated market. Private operators must register with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) and sign an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario (iGO). The safest starting point is iGO’s live operator directory, not a logo, advert or affiliate list.
Quick answer: use the exact casino link in the iGaming Ontario directory, confirm the operator name in the footer and check the cashier before depositing. Ontario products, bonuses and banking methods can differ from the version of the same brand offered elsewhere in Canada.
AGCO-registered online casinos in Ontario
The listings below are our Ontario-focused reviews. Inclusion here is not a substitute for checking the current official directory; licences, brands and URLs can change.
iGaming Ontario-listed casino sites
Each reviewed site below appears in the iGaming Ontario regulated-site directory, checked July 22, 2026. Use the Ontario-specific domain listed there: an international version of the same brand can have different rules and protections. Rankings use our independent Capy-Score, not commercial placement.

AGCO is the provincial regulator. It registers operators and suppliers and enforces Ontario’s standards. iGaming Ontario conducts and manages the market and signs operating agreements with registered private operators. A private casino needs both parts of that framework before it can legally offer its Ontario product.
iGO’s operator directory says its snapshot was accurate on June 29, 2026 and contained 47 operators and 81 gaming sites. Treat those totals as a dated snapshot; use the live directory for the current brand and link.
Ontario, Alberta and the rest of Canada in 2026
Ontario is no longer the only province with an expanded competitive iGaming market. Alberta’s regulated iGaming market began on July 13, 2026: operators must register with AGLC and sign a commercial agreement with Alberta iGaming Corporation. The two provinces use different authorities, directories and requirements.
Other provinces continue to have their own rules and provincial products. A casino that accepts players elsewhere in Canada is not automatically an Ontario-regulated casino. Likewise, an Ontario registration does not automatically apply in Alberta or another province. Always verify the route for the province where you are physically located.
Why the same casino can have two Canadian versions
Some brands use different legal entities and websites by province. For example, iGO’s directory lists Jackpot City under Cadtree Limited for Ontario, while the Kahnawà:ke Gaming Commission lists Baytree Interactive Limited for the Canadian route outside Ontario. The lobby, offer, payment methods and terms can differ.
Betsson is another market-specific example: its Ontario presence is offered through Betsafe in iGO’s directory, while our Betsson Canada review explains the route available outside Ontario. Never assume a review of one version describes every provincial version.
Find the brand and open the site from the directory’s own play link.
Compare the operator name and market wording in the site footer.
Read the bonus, withdrawal and privacy terms on that Ontario site.
Check the payment methods shown in your actual cashier before depositing.
A registration badge alone is not enough. A copied badge can be outdated or misleading; the official directory provides the current operator-to-brand relationship and approved link.
Ontario casino payments and KYC
Payment availability is operator-specific. Interac, cards, online banking and e-wallet options may appear, but the exact minimums, limits and withdrawal routes depend on the casino and your account. Our Interac casino guide explains what the payment rail controls and what remains under the operator or financial institution.
Expect identity and age checks. A withdrawal can take longer when the account name does not match the payment account or when documents are incomplete. Complete requested checks early and compare the operator’s pending period separately from the payment method’s delivery time. See our fast-withdrawal guide.
Player protection and complaints
Use the casino’s support and complaint process first and keep copies of relevant terms, messages and transactions. iGO publishes a player-support route for unresolved complaints involving Ontario-regulated sites. AGCO also provides regulatory information and accepts concerns within its remit.
Set a budget before play and use deposit limits, time-outs or self-exclusion when needed. If gambling is causing harm, stop and use the support resources linked from the regulated site.
Ontario casino checklist

Withdrawal path: your preferred method is visible before you deposit.
Account details: your legal name matches the payment account.
Safer-play tools: limits and self-exclusion are easy to find.
Frequently asked questions
Are online casinos legal in Ontario?
Ontario permits private online casino operators within its regulated framework. Verify the current brand and site in iGaming Ontario’s operator directory; do not infer Ontario status from availability elsewhere in Canada.
What is the difference between AGCO and iGaming Ontario?
AGCO regulates and registers operators and suppliers. iGaming Ontario conducts and manages the competitive market and enters operating agreements with registered operators.
Is Jackpot City regulated in Ontario?
Yes. iGaming Ontario’s current directory lists Jackpot City under Cadtree Limited. Ontario players should use the directory-listed Ontario route.
Is Ontario still the only regulated private-operator market in Canada?
No. Alberta’s expanded regulated iGaming market began on July 13, 2026. Alberta uses AGLC and Alberta iGaming Corporation rather than Ontario’s AGCO and iGO framework.
